John O’Dell, ACA, CCA, CCP
Board Certified Position

Has over 25 years experience in transportation & risk management for some the nations largest LTL and TL carriers, John has specialized in domestic and international cargo liability claims, loss prevention, insurance and cargo and facility security for all modes of transportation.  Several Federal Court decisions have been published supporting his position on high value cargo claims.  He is a Founding Member of the Certified Claims Professional Accreditation Council. John serves on the Board of Directors of the Jacksonville Claims Association and has served as Deputy of the local Chapter of Risk & Insurance Management Society (RIMS) and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Transportation Loss Prevention & Security Association (TLP&SA), has served as President of the National Freight Claims Council (NFC&SC) of American Trucking Association (ATA), a Carrier Arbitrator for the Transportation Arbitration Board (TAB), is a member of Delta Nu Alpha (DNA), the Transportation Industry Defense Association (TIDA) and the Law Enforcement & Private Security Council of Northeast Florida and the Transportation & Logistics Council.

David is the Director of Claims at the The Gilbert Company. He has over 38 years of experience in transportation management. He is currently the Director overseeing cargo claims, OS&D, loss prevention, quality control, security and operations. David serves as Board Member of the Transportation & Logistics Council (T&LC), Arbitrator on the Transportation Arbitration Board (TAB).  He also is member of the Traffic Club of Newark, NJ,  a member of New Jersey Motor Trucking Association and the Eastern Regional Transportation Security Council. He also is a member of the Transportation Loss Prevention & Security Association and the American Society of Industrial Security. He served as President of the Northeastern Motor Carrier Claims & Security Conference during 2000-2004. Dave was elected President of CCPAC at its 41st Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL on March 23, 2015, and was re-elected to serve another term at the CCPAC Annual Meeting in Henderson, NV on March 20, 2017. He is a proud Army Veteran.

Deborah is the Cargo Claims Manager at UPS Freight, Inc. at the the Corporate Headquarters in Richmond, VA.  Deborah was the first in her department to earn her CCP status.  As she became more involved with CCPAC  she successfuly demonstrating to her company management the importance and benefits of getting all the members of the Cargo Claims Staff CCPAC Certified.  Deborah has serviced as Vice President – Membership, CCPAC, Inc. and was elected to her most recent position of Vice President, CCPAC Certifications at the CCPAC Annual Meeting in Albuquerque, NM in 2016.  Deborah also services on the CCPAC Board of Directors.

Riaz has been with Lennox World Headquarters in Richardson, TX since 2011.  As Riaz become more involved with CCPAC he was elected to his position of Vice President – CCPAC Membership at the Annual CCPAC Business Meeting in Henderson, NV, 2017.  He has held various positions in many departments such as Shared Services, Financial Planning & Analysis and World Wide Supply Chain.  He is currently managing freight claims for Lennox (North America) and working as (Strategic Sourcing Analyst – Commodity Hedging). He has also been involved in handling, negotiating and recovering cargo claims. Riaz has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from University of Texas at Dallas.


Brenda Baker, ACA, CCP

Brenda is the Senior Claims Analyst at Landstar Systems, Inc. in Jacksonville, FL. She began her career in the transportation industry in August 1989 at Ranger Transportation in the Risk Management Department, now part of Landstar. Brenda became an all-lines adjuster but passing the Florida State Insurance Adjuster exam and earning the ACA designation.  She has been involved in all aspects of cargo claim handling and negotiations since that time and became a CCP in 2004.  She recognized the personal benefits she gained by becoming an active member of CCPAC’s management team and was elected to her current position of CCPAC Board Secretary in 2005. Brenda is a Florida native and is a Sr. Cargo Claims Analyst at Landstar. She is a member of the Jacksonville Claims Association and the Property and Casualty Claims Professionals Association. Brenda is also licensed by the State of Florida as an All Lines Claim Adjuster (ACA).


Jean Zimmerman, ACA, CCP

Jean recently retired from Landstar Risk Management Claim Services, Inc. having over 35 years in the transportation industry. She was the first to become a licensed all-lines adjuster within her group by successfully passing the Florida State Claim Adjuster Exam.  Jean was the first to become a CCP in her department and encourage others in the group to do so as well.  Jean became more active in CCPAC as was elected to CCPAC Treasurer in 2007, a position she currently holds.  She began her career with the Ranger Division of Ryder Truck Lines in Jacksonville, Florida in the Revenue Processing Department. Jean was then promoted to head up the Fuel and Miles Tax Department before she began focusing her efforts of specializing in cargo legal liability claims. She served as the Senior Claims Analyst at Risk Management Claim Services, Inc., a Landstar company until her retirement in 2014. Jean is licensed by the State of Florida as an All Lines Claims Adjuster (ACA) and earned her CCP designation from CCPAC in 2007. She is an active member of the Property and Casualty Claims Professionals Association, CCPAC and the Jacksonville Claims Association.

Dona serves in her present position as Cargo Claims Manager at Transplace Texas LP. She has been instrumental in coaching her department staff to all become CCP’s. Dona saw the advantages of her furthering her knowledge of the CCPAC by volunteering to join the management team as Vice President – Certifications.  She was elected to CCPAC, Inc. President, at the Annual CCPAC, Inc. Meeting in San Diego 2014, a position she held for over two years.  Dona has been a vital member of the CCPAC team and currently services on the Board of Directors.

Roy is the Claims Administrator at FedEx Custom Critical, in Greensburg, Ohio. He has over ten years of experience in cargo claims and over three years in PLPD claims with a combined twenty-five years in various management positions, loss prevention and collections. He served as CCPAC Council President. Roy became a CCP in 2006 and is also earned his ARM designation. Roy is a graduate of graduate of Youngstown State University and the Insurance Institute of America.

Wally Dammann, CCP

Wally is the Assistant Vice President & National Recovery Manager at Mitsui Sumitomo Marine Management U.S.A., New York. He is also the Administrator of the Transportation Arbitration Board (TAB) and has been involved as a carrier or shipper cargo claims since 1986, having served both carrier and shippers. From 1986 through 1999,Wally was the Director of Cargo Claims at Rutgers Express and Streichler Trucking. From 1999 through 2005, he served as the Cargo Claims Manager for Panasonic Electronics. Prior to his career in cargo claims,Wally worked for Zim Container Service and Maher Terminals as a Terminal Superintendent in Elizabeth, NJ. In 2003,Wally retired from the US Army reserves, after 23 years of service, with his last position being Marine Cargo Operations NCO. He received a Bachelor of Science in Transportation and Logistics from St. John’s University in 1994 and is presently seeking his master’s degree from St. John’s College of Insurance. Wally served as CCPAC Council President and was recently awarded a Life Member Award at the 41st Annual CCPAC Conference in Orlando, FL, March 23, 2015.

Teresa is the Senior Manager of Cargo Claims, FedEx Freight at Harrison, AR. Teresa Jones is a past president of CCPAC and an active member of the council for many years. She began her career in the transportation industry in 1989 when she joined FedEx Freight; formerly known as Arkansas Freightways and then American Freightways. Since that time, she has been involved in all aspects of freight claims handling and management. She has been the driving force in coaching and helping her entire staff in the Claims Department to all earn their CCP certification. Teresa resides in Harrison, Arkansas, with her husband and two sons.

Cindy Carey, CCP

Cindy is the Director of Claims, nVision Global at McDonough, GA. Cindy is a past president of the Council and has served on various committees and on the board for many years. She has 20 years of transportation experience. Cindy has spent the majority of her time in the motor carrier and freight-forwarder segments of the business working primarily in claims or claims-related positions. The last ten years have been spent managing the Loss and Damage Claims departments for a couple of different companies. In 1999, Cindy joined the management staff of TSi Logistics as the Loss and Damage Claims Manager. In that same year, she successfully completed the CCPAC course and became the third member of the TSi staff to hold this distinction. TSI is not part of n Vision Global where Cindy is one of those people who truly enjoys handling claims and working with carriers to reach and equitable settlement for all parties.

George is an Attorney Partner with the law firm of Pezold, Smith, Hirschmann & Selvaggio, LLC in Huntington, NY. Mr. Pezold has specialized in transportation law for more than 40 years, representing shippers, motor carriers, forwarders and brokers and coordinates the firm’s federal and state court litigation. He also writes and lectures extensively on transportation law subjects including co-authoring of “Freight Claims in Plain English among others. George also has the distinction of serving as the Executive Director of the Transportation & Logistics Council, a founding sponsor of CCPAC when it was initially formulated in 1980.

  This position requires a person who is a “CCP” and loves to write and would like to join the leadership team in filling this important position.  The task assigned to this position is to seek member input for news worthy submissions on the subjects of cargo claim, loss prevention, packaging and cargo security issues and for industry news, events that can be published in ProClaim, the Official Newsletter of the Certified Claims Professional Accreditation Council.
